Harvest Moon: Light of Hope is another installment of the popular game series that blends elements of JRPGs, adventure games, and farming simulators. It was developed by the Japanese studio Natsume, which got the rights to the Harvest Moon franchise in 2014. In comparison with the previous games of the series, Light of Hope has a more complex scenario with clearly stated goals. We play as a sailor whose ship sank near a small island.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope for PC, PS4 and SWITCH is a blend of jRPG, adventure game, and a famring simulator that is a part of the Harvest Moon series. Since the series’ inception in 1996 over a dozen Harvest Moon games were released. Light of Hope was developed by the Japanese studio Natsune that took over the franchise in 2014 when its original developers began to work on Story of Seasons games.

The Plot

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope for PC, PS4 and SWITCH encompasses all the elements that made the series what it is throughout its twenty years history. Light of Hope stands out among the Harvest Moon games due to its heavy focus on the story. We play as a sailor whose ship wrecks on a small island that was devastated by a hurricane. Our task will be to help the citizens of the island’s small port town. In addition to farming and rearing farm animals we will help to rebuild some of the town’s buildings. Rebuilding the village’s lighthouse is our final goal in the game. We can make friends with islanders and start our own family.

A series of life simulations, enriched with RPG elements and solutions from the economic strategy genre. Its roots date back to 1996, when on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System console appeared the first Harvest Moon. The game received a moderately warm reception from gamers and critics (its average rating on Gamerankings was just over 73/100). Nevertheless, its good sales encouraged the authors to develop the idea, which in time resulted in the creation of a whole series. Over the years, successive installments of the series have been released on a variety of platforms - from desktop consoles, handhelds and mobile devices to personal computers.
