A large DLC for Halo Wars 2, a science fiction RTS game, created by 343 Industries in cooperation with Creative Assembly. The story of this expansion, called Awakening the Nightmare, takes place a few months after the events of the original game. The story focuses on the Banished fighting for survival against the Flood. Mechanics

Awakening the Nightmare is an expansion for Halo Wars 2, released on PC and XONE. This expansion requires the original game and was created by Creative Assembly and 343 Industries.

Plot

The mainstay of the Awakening the Nightmare expansion is the story campaign set a few months after the events in Halo Wars 2. The plot is focused on the Banished that fight with Flood for survival. Besides the numerous missions the story is also told by cut-scenes created by Blur Studio.

Mechanics

The gameplay is the same as in the original game. Besides a completely new story campaign this expansion also adds two commanders and two new multiplayer maps, among other things. Those maps are also available for free for all owners of Halo Wars 2. Also, this DLC adds a new cooperation mode called Terminus Firefight, in which up to three players can build their bases, create armies and then they have to defend from incoming enemies.
