Halo: Spartan Strike for PC, iOS and WP is a sequel to the 2013 Halo: Spartan Assault. Both games are spin-offs of the main Halo series. The game was created alongside Halo: The Master Chief Collection and, just like Spartan Assault, was developed by 343 Industries and Vanguard Games, creators of Greed Corp and Gatling Gears.
The Plot
The game takes place at the same time as Halo 2 and begins in 2552 in New Mombasa. Once again, we play as Spartan Davis who, with the aid of UNSC units, will explore thirty levels (cities, jugnle, etc.) in order to save our planet from the invading hordes of Covenants and Proteans. During our adventures, we will use Davis’ special abilities, and many iconic weapons and vehicles, like the Warthog.
Mechanics
In terms of the mechanics, Halo: Spartan Strike for PC, iOS and WP doesn’t bring much change. Just like its prequel, the game is still an arcade top-down shooter. Game’s visuals were slightly improved, new weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and enemies were introduced, and gameplay was improved according to the fanbase’s suggestions. Perhaps the biggest change of all is the elimination of any form of microtransactions, which means we don’t have to spend real money to unlock all weapons and items. Controls on mobile devices were also improved.
Misc.
Halo: Spartan Strike for PC, iOS and WP was released in two versions. The first one is available on popular digital distribution platforms, like Steam. The second one was designed strictly for PCs, tablets and smartphones with Windows 8/8.1. This version is also integrated with Xbox Live and has a seperate achievement list. Some of the unlockable bonuses include avatars and emblems which can be used in Halo: The Master Chief Collection multiplayer mode.
