Group S Challenge is a rather classic console racer, in which we sit behind the wheel of one of the dozens of cars and take part in various types of races. In many ways, this title resembles such series as Gran Turismo or Project Gotham Racing. However, it is less developed than them. The production and release of the discussed race was taken care of by the Capcom concern. She herself initially appeared only in Japan. At the same time it is worth mentioning that Group S Challenge has a not very extensive multiplayer for two people, in which duels are played on a split screen (so-called split-screen).

The actual gameplay, as in the GT series mentioned above, has been divided into two basic modes. Less demanding players will probably be interested in the simplified Arcade. In this case, competitors can take part in single races or more extensive cups, sitting at the helm of previously unlocked vehicle models. However, Circuit Mode, which includes three other modes - Championship, Line-Line and Duel, is definitely more interesting. In this case we have to take into account a slightly more difficult driving model. However, a much more important role is played by efficient management of the funds held, for which new vehicles, their parts are purchased, or registration for more prestigious types of professions pays off.

In the above mentioned championships, the player tries to advance to the higher classes, thus unlocking new car models. As the fun grows, winnings are higher and higher, so you can afford a lot more. The Line-Line mode assumes moving on the line defined by the game. Depending on your current achievements, you can count on an appropriate cash prize. Further challenges are also unblocked. Duel mode is by far the toughest, but it gives you the opportunity to win the most tuned models of machines.

About eighty vehicles, representing such brands as Volkswagen, Opel, TVR, Dodge, Porsche, Honda, Lotus, Alfa Romeo and Chevrolet, were made available to the player. Of course, the authors of the game took care of the proper behavior of the vehicles on the route, depending on their power, or the type of drive used. The cars you own can be tuned to a considerable extent. However, better components require substantial funding. The competition takes place on several different tracks. Some of the prepared facilities reflect the routes known from real races. This is the case, for example, with the track located in Monaco. Visually, the Group S Challenge is quite average. Of course, the most accurate models were made for the vehicles taking part in the races.
