Grim Dawn: Ashes of Malmouth

Grim Dawn: Ashes of Malmouth is an expansion to Grim Dawn, a 2016 action RPG. Like the base game, it was developed by Crate Entertainment. It's not a stand-alone DLC, requiring the base game to work.

Plot

The expansion lets the player finally attack the Aetherials and their grotesque creations within the abandoned city of Malmouth. On our journey, we're assisted by the Black Legion and Inquisitor Creed.

Mechanics

Ashes of Malmouth doesn't change the core mechanics of Grim Dawn in any major way, instead providing new content. The game is a typical action RPG, tasking us with exploring the world, developing our character, completing quests and fighting enemies in real-time battles.

Grim Dawn: Ashes of Malmouth introduces two new chapters to the campaign, set in the dangerous wilderness of Ugdenbog and the titular fallen city of Malmouth. It also adds two new character classes - the gunslinging Inquisitor and the scythe-wielding Necromancer.

Over three hundred new items and fourteeen new star constellations providing useful bonuses expand customization even further. We'll face over forty new bosses and mini-bosses, while the level cap's been increased to 100.

Technical aspects

Visually, Ashes of Malmouth heavily resembles Grim Dawn, using the same engine, an improved version of technology created for Titan Quest.
