A Rock Band game devoted to one rock band, Green Day, is another production based on the career of just one artist. In the past, it has been done with The Beatles, among others. This installment, just like the previous ones, was developed by Harmonix with the cooperation of MTV Games.
In the game, we can see the images of the band members: Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Drint and Tree Cool. The virtual environment are venues and stadiums which are counterparts of the real buildings. They were picked from those in which the band had actually played in. The tracks in the game are the review of the Green Day music from their very first success with the “Dookie” album, through “American Idiot”, to “21st Century Breakdown”. From that last one, along with the announcement of Green Day: Rock Band, three songs were published which constitute a DLC add-on for all versions of the game. These are: “21 Guns”, “East Jesus Nowhere” and the first single of the “Know Your Enemy” album.
Just like in the previous productions of Harmonix, the players use imitations of real instruments. They may sing, play guitars and drums. All tracks included in the game can be easily exported to any Rock Band game.
In Green Day: Rock Band there are three scenes representing different phases of the career of the band, each of which has suitable songs assigned to them.
