I have never played any other game quite like this which uses all the trappings of religion in a way that subverts our everyday conceptions of it. What happens when you hold people to artificial standards of behaviour that turn everyday acts into punishable sins? This game peers at the line between portraying real life religion in a game and using it as artful commentary, and completely obliterates it.

The only downside to the formula adopted by Interactive Stone is that they have clearly exaggerated with the religious iconography. Apart from that, and a few design issues, Gray Dawn is a short but deep immersion into the human subconscious, an exposition of the endless battle between good and evil.

Truth be told, I had a great time with Gray Dawn.
Gray Dawn Description
Gray Dawn is an adventure horror game with religion themes developed by Interactive Stone. The game is available on PC Windows.
Plot
The action of Gray Dawn is set in 1920 in a remote English village. Players assume the role of father Abraham – a priest who performed an exorcism on a sick or maybe possessed altar boy. At some point the boy jumped through the window and, even though his body was never found, the priest was accused of murder. In an attempt to avoid the beheading, the main protagonist has to find his protégé as soon as possible. The situation gets even more complicated due to the fact that some unexplainable events start to take place around the priest.
Mechanics
In Gray Dawn for PC Windows, players observe the action from the first-person perspective (FPP). During the game, one gets to traverse different locations – from grim and claustrophobic corridors, through diverse temples to picturesque outdoor locations inspired by areas in Eastern Europe. The most important aspect of gameplay is solving environmental riddles and looking for clues. Moreover, the main protagonist is often haunted by troubling visions straight from nightmares that build the atmosphere of fear.
Technical aspects
Gray Dawn features high-quality 3D visuals. Players are bound to appreciate detailed in-door locations and outdoor locations rich with plant life. The thrilling atmosphere is well-complemented by the dedicated soundtrack.
