Mechanics

To survive, we have to, first and foremost, build a robot. The gameplay is based on constructing mechs from different materials (wood, stone, metal, etc.). Then, they will help us face various dangers. The randomly generated world is inhabited by smaller and bigger creatures that are divided into factions. It is impossible to live in harmony with all of them, so by performing subsequent quests, we will gain respect of some and become disliked by others. In any event, we always have to have a robot at our side to defend ourselves. It is also worth to remember that depending on the used materials, the mech will have different traits. For example: a wooden one is faster but not as durable as a stone one.

Contrary to other survival projects, Whalebox’s production abandons the need of acquiring food and crafting items that let us collect raw materials. Instead, we have to take care of our supply of special drinks. Apart from that, we need to create weapons for robots and build bases to provide shelter. The last of the listed elements is very important because our enemies become stronger and more aggressive at night so if we get blacklisted by a given faction, we may have some serious trouble with its “representatives” after dark.

Game modes

Goliath for PC and XONE is meant to be played in three main game modes: single player, co-op, and competitive multiplayer.
