Glorious Companions Description
Glorious Companions is a dark fantasy open-world RPG in which we play as a mercenary commander, crossing the Navaroth continent and fighting turn-based battles against opponents. The game was developed by Ancient Forge, whose original goal was to create a new RPG system, but it grew so large that they decided to make a video game out of it.
Plot
The action takes place in the unfriendly world of Navaroth, full of dangerous creatures, bloodthirsty bandits, and ancient secrets. We take on the role of a beginner mercenary commander, whose team at the start consists of himself and a faithful servant. In order to create a powerful and lucrative group, we need to gain fame and, above all, the money that will ensure the loyalty of hired thugs. And we will need them, because the mysterious Ancient Guardians, who have been asleep for many years, are awakening and becoming threat to the world and its people, whose fate is in our hands.
Mechanics
The world of Glorious Companions is procedurally generated at the beginning of each game, making each adventure and exploration unique. This uniqueness is also influenced by the fact that this is a complex open-world RPG, in which our decisions affect the development of the plot. An example of this are the numerous races in the game, on whose side we can stand, the ability to join a selected faction and advance in its ranks, as well as to create our own.
In the game we play as a mercenary leader, who will gradually expand the ranks of their group with new members. These come from different backgrounds, have their own history and unique statistics. Our task is to know the predisposition of a given individual and to develop and equip them with such gear that they are as effective as possible on the battlefield. Each of them also has his or her own needs, which we, as a leader, must satisfy in order to maintain good morale. They are influenced by, among other things, food and drink, taking care of the level of health after the fight and investing in the development of our subordinates.
However, our activities will not only focus on mercenary group management but also on dealing with economic and political conflicts.
An important element of the game is the combat, taking place in a turn-based system. It is demanding and unforgiving because every attack has a chance to knock down the opponent. Moreover, the battlefield situation itself can change dramatically, even if our loss seemed inevitable because the elimination of the enemy captain ensures an automatic victory. This applies both to us and to the opponent.
Technical aspects
Glorious Companions is a three-dimensional game set in fantasy world, where our actions are observed from an isometric view.
