An agricultural strategy game. Global Farmer allows us to run a farm on any land copied from the real world. The game simulates global scale mechanics, like seasonal changes, weather forecasts, soil quality and profitability of crops. The action is seen in isometric view.

Global Farmer is the second game, after Zombie Cure Lab, from the German studio Thera Bytes. It was published by Aerosoft, specialists in the field of simulators. The game allows for running an agrarian business. It was created in collaboration with an agriculture expert to achieve a high level of realism.

Gameplay

In Global Farmer we undertake a task to run a farm, which, thanks to data from OpenStreetMap, happens in a place of our choice in the real world. It doesn't have to be a cultivated field, and we can try our hand even in our own backyard. Based on the determined location, the engine calculates the value of the land, soil and climate.

We can design our farm right down to the layout of buildings, parking lots for vehicles and paths between fields. Taking into account seasonal changes, weather forecasts, soil quality (like the pH value) or profitability of crops we sow plants and also breed animals. It is also important to employ workers, and take care of tractors, seeders and combines, which are not lacking in Global Farmer.

We farm different fields in parallel through crop rotation and perform contract work to increase income by delivering goods on time. Their implementation requires proper resource management.

The creators of Global Farmer provided a map editor, in which we can modify existing OSM data.

Graphics

In Global Farmer we look at the world in an isometric view. The game is characterized by a clear visual setting and less detailed 3D objects.
