A heavy machinery simulator created by an independent studio Code Horizon. Giant Machines 2017 stands out from the other simulators with the presence of a Story Mode, the final objective of which is to send a shuttle to the International Space Station. The players can take the reins of machines such as a crane, a bulldozer, a dump truck, a gigantic mining excavator, or a platform transporting space shuttles.

The player assumes the role of the operator of the different machines – compared to other games of this genre, Giant Machines 2017 for PC distinguishes itself with a fully-fledged Story Mode. Our final objective will be to send a shuttle to the International Space Station.

Mechanics

Giant Machines 2017 for PC places great emphasis on incorporating the rules of controlling such great machinery. Seven different vehicles were left at our disposal, including a crane, a bulldogger, a tipper, or a gigantic mining excavator, as well as a platform that transports space shuttles on Cape Canaveral. The individual missions take place in six different environments – among others, Greenland, Canada, and the aforementioned Florida. The objectives prepared for us by the developers range from transporting mining output, cutting huge metal constructions, up to crumbling mountain slopes.

It should be mentioned that the game uses an advanced physics system, so an eventual mistake can result not only in permanent damage, but also in a complete immobilization of the equipment. The controls layout are a definitely a highlight – the player has to personally control all the arms and buckets, as well as other elements of the individual machines. Additional highlight is the ability to freely move around the vehicle cabins – the game is seen from a first person perspective.

Game Modes

The mainstay of Giant Machines 2017 is the singleplayer story campaign, which contains 14 different missions. The game also includes a Time Attack mode, where we need to accomplish our task in the given amount of time; we receive medals as rewards, while we can show off our score on an online scoreboard. Additionally, Garage contains the most important information on the individual vehicles: technical parameters and performance, as well as three-dimensional models, allowing for seeing the machine from a close-up.

Technical Aspects

Giant Machines 2017 for PC makes use of the Unity engine, which was the base for high-quality visuals. The models of giant machines and their cockpits where created with utmost detail. Richly detailed environments can also be pleasing.
