G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout

G. I. Joe: Operation Blackout is a TPP team shooter based on a G.I. Joe toy licence. and the cartoons and animated series from the 1980s based on it. The game is developed by GameMill Entertainment, a company specializing in licensed titles such as Nickelodeon Kart Racers and Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers, as well as hunting and fishing games. Interestingly, it also has Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing in its portfolio, one of the "worst games ever", which was once a hit among gaming youtubers and streamers.

Plot

G. I. Joe: Operation Blackout is based entirely on a G.I. Joe toy licence. The game adapts stories and characters appearing in cartoons and animated series published in the 1980s, promoting popular plastic figures and vehicles. Players are members of the G.I. Joe organisation which is fighting against the Cobra criminal syndicate, trying to take power over the whole world.

Mechanics

G. I. Joe: Operation Blackout is a classic TPS team shooter with a big story campaign and many multiplayer modes. The game offers a total of twelve playable characters, fighting on the side of both Joe and Cobra teams. Each of them has unique skills and equipment. In total, the developers prepared 18 types of weapons, together with 36 different skins changing their look.

Game modes

A story campaign consisting of seventeen missions is carried out on a single mission or in cooperation mode for two people, on a split screen or through a network. The developers have also prepared a multiplayer mode with several standard PvP gameplay variants, including Capture the Flag and King of the Hill.

Technical aspects

The game offers a colorful three-dimensional graphic design made in cel-shading style, using the aesthetics of classic cartoons and comics.
