A remastered version of a 2009 action adventure game in which we play the role of a new recruit for the title Ghostbusters and hunt for astral beings threatening the inhabitants of New York City. While playing Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, we use a futuristic proton backpack and a variety of gadgets unlocked as we play.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is a remastered version of the 2009 action adventure game. The game was developed by Saber Interactive and released by Mad Dog. The story told here is the work of Dan Aykroyd and Harold Raims, the scriptwriters of the original films.
Plot
Action of Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered takes place two years after the events of the second part of the Ghostbusters movie. From the moment the fearless heroes managed to deal with the sinister Vigo, New York has changed beyond recognition. The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is now the hero of a children's TV show and Gozer, the Sumerian god of destruction, has even had a separate museum exhibition devoted to him. In such circumstances, the team of Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore is joined by a young and inexperienced recruit who has to help them deal with another ghostly plague threatening the inhabitants of the American metropolis.
Mechanics
In Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered the action is shown from third-person perspective. During the game we visit various locations, including the thirteenth floor of the Sedwick Hotel, the city library, the mysterious island in the middle of the Hudson River and even a parallel dimension.
Our primary task is to capture astral beings. Although we track them with the help of a psychokinetic energy detector, the main working tool is the proton backpack combined with a special rifle. While in the case of lesser spirits, the standard equipment (the proton beam enables us to catch our opponent, stun him and place in a special trap) is sufficient, against the more powerful creatures we must use various improvements, which we must first buy.
Technical aspects
The creators of Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered took care for the graphics to meet modern standards. The sound layer deserves a separate mention, because the characters known from the film original were played by the original actors - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Raims and Ernie Hudson.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered gets some visual improvements, but not much else. Strong nostalgia hooks will delight fans, but won't bring in any new audience.

The 2009 title remains the definitive Ghostbusters video game despite some rough edges.
PlayStation Universe: 8.5 / 10 by Jack McCaskill
Written by and starring the original cast of Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is simply the best video game based on a movie property ever created. With fun gameplay and bizarre events, this is the closest you'll ever get to strapping on a real proton pack.
