Genesis Noir

Genesis Noir is a monochromatic adventure game set before and after the Big Bang, in which we play a character who wants to save his beloved and in order to do so must prevent the overwhelming expansion of the universe. The game was funded thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign and received a lot of prizes.

Plot

The action of the game is set in space, where we play the role of a hero, trying to fight destiny, which wants to kill his beloved, a goddess named Miss Mass. She is to die from a bulle shot by the jealous Golden Boy, who loves destruction and chaos. The player takes on the role of a character called No Man, who, in order to prevent the tragedy, must enter the expanding universe caused by that shot and destroy it before it reaches Miss Mass.

Mechanics

Genesis Noir is an artistic game focused on exploraton and interaction with our surroundings.

The world presented in Genesis Noir consists of nebulae, fractals, asteroid fields, black holes, and jazz cafes. We will get to know aliens and immerse ourselves in both microscopic and gigantic worlds full of various interactions. It is around their exploration that the game revolves around.

Thanks to the point-and-click mechanics, the player is able to interact with the environment and observe the consequences of his actions. Thanks to this, the player can not only express himself, but also learn the story written across a number of chapters. We have to plant seeds in a private garden, terraform the land, create (as well as destroy) stars, take part in jazz duets - all this to find the clues necessary to solve the puzzles and, as a consequence, reverse the trajectory of the bullet, which leads to tragedy.

The game world is a mixture of 3D and 2D visuals, observed from different perspectives, which often change.

Technical aspects

Genesis Noir is an artistic noir game. The devs were inspired by such titles as Kentucky Road Zero, Botanicula, as well as poems by William Blake.

The English band Skillbard is responsible for the soundtrack, which has created music for an animated show aired on Cartoon Network - Lasso and Comet.
