The More Remasters, the Better
According to some, the generation of rehash continues and supposedly it's not a good thing – after all, it's better to get a new game. But I say that a good remaster is not bad, and the more of them we get, the better!

DualShockers: 7 / 10 by Jorge Jimenez
At the end of the day if any triple-A franchise deserves the remastered treatment, Gears of War fits the bill. It spawned a legion of devotees. Even though the campaign has shown its age, the multiplayer still can compete with today's shooters.
GamesRadar+: 4.5 / 5 by David Houghton
Damn near essential if you've yet to experience the horror that followed Emergence Day, and very heartily recommended to those who've forgotten just what a special time that was.
Destructoid: 9 / 10 by Brett Makedonski
Microsoft has a lot riding on the continued prosperity of Gears; after all, it is one of the publisher's largest properties. Gears of War Ultimate Edition effectively reminds why that's the case, just as it reminds why this is the game that partially influenced an entire generation of gaming. It just took a makeover to help us appreciate it again.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Description
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is a remastered edition of a third-person shooter from 2006 that started one of the most popular Xbox exclusive series. The transition from Xbox 360 onto Xbox One and PC was made possible by The Coalition developer team (previously known as Black Tusk), with Rod Fergusson – a long-term producer of the series – at the helm.
The game is set on an Earth-like planet called Sera, presently devastated by a long war for resources. Soon after a new source of energy is found, and a temporary ceasefire was achieved, a hostile alien race emerged from beneath the planet’s surface. In just several years the so-called Locust managed to wipe out nearly 80 percent of human population. Those who survived found shelter in underground bunkers. The story begins 14 years after the Emergence Day. You play as Marcus Fenix, a discredited war hero, convicted for desertion and sent together with his team to fight the Locust.
The third-person perspective gameplay featured in the game, is characterized by a very high pace. You fight with various types of aliens using a wide arsenal of weapons, which, while rather conventional (assault rifles, shotguns, grenades), have a distinctive futuristic vibe. The protagonist wears a heavy battle suit, impairing his movement speed, but increasing his chances in melee combat in return. Proper tactics is essential in combat, as you have to move around the battlefield carefully and use various covers (either existing or self-made, e.g. by knocking down furniture).
The remastered edition of Gears of War features five new campaign chapters adding 90 minutes to single player gameplay time, which were originally available only in the PC version. The player is put up against a new boss – the Brumak. The game also features a highly acclaimed multiplayer mode. The developers from The Coalition Studio expanded it with new modes, maps, 17 additional characters featured in Gears of War 3, dedicated servers, and matchmaking system.
Furthermore, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition can also boast greatly enhanced graphics. The game now supports 4K resolution both in single player and multiplayer.
