The Wheel of Time Description
The Wheel of Time is one of the most famous fantasy cycles of the last 20 years. The world created in Robert Jordan's novels (by James Oliver Rigney, Jr.) delighted developers from Legend Entertainment studio, who ambitiously decided to present it in the form of a video game. GT Interactive has become the publisher of the title, seeing The Wheel of Time as one of the last opportunities to improve the disastrous financial situation.
The main character of the game is the witch Elaine, who is entangled in a complicated intrigue connected with the theft of an unusual artifact and plans to free the Black - a peculiar opposite of the Creator. As the action unfolds, Elayna discovers a huge potential within herself, which allows her to become the most powerful being on Earth and face the Black Servants.
The Wheel of Time's single player campaign's plot, albeit entirely linear, is confusing and full of references to the literary prototype. Players who have read Jordan's novels before have the opportunity to confront their ideas about specific places and characters with the creators' visions of the game.
The game combines features of many species, including adventures, cRPGs and strategies. In the foreground, however, there are elements of foreground shooting (FPS). The main character does not use any physical weapon, but she has a lot of spells. The advantage of the game is a complex system of magic, which is based on artifacts called ter'angreal. Spells cast through them are related to the elements of fire, water and air. Spells can be offensive (e.g. lightning, fireball, earthquake) or protective (treatment, shield, etc.). Players decide for themselves what artifacts - and thus spells - Elayna will use. Clashes with different opponents require an appropriate strategy, including sensible management of the energy needed to cast spells.
The game uses the Unreal Engine graphic engine, which translates into the character's motion control system. Individual locations have been prepared with great care. Climatic audio-visual setting allows you to feel the atmosphere of the visited places like castles, dungeons, cellars.
The Wheel of Time's advantage is also the refined artificial intelligence of computer-controlled enemies, so that the game does not get bored even after many hours of fun.
Players who are not satisfied with a solo campaign can take advantage of a functional multiplayer mode. It offers two gameplay options: Arena (deathmatch) and Citadel (capture the flag). Up to 16 people can take part in the struggle via LAN or the Internet.
