30 Days on Ship

30 Days on Ship is a simulator with survival elements. We play as a lone castaway in the game who fights for survival on the ocean waters. The game is the work of the independent studio Klapson Games.

Plot

The game presents the story of a man miraculously saved from a container ship disaster, for whom the accident in the Pacific becomes a test of limits of his endurance. The hero must survive thirty days in a wreck, dealing with hunger, dangerous animals, and storms. His mental health will also be compromised.

Gameplay

30 Days on Ship is a first-person title focused on exploration and the skillful use of resources. We start the game on a ship, which was used for transporting goods before the accident. This gives us the opportunity to use the contents of the containers to survive.

Initially, we are limited to checking containers with a damaged lock, but after acquiring a cutter, we easily handle those that are tightly closed as well. As the game progresses, we gradually discover more methods of exploring the ship and its surroundings. Thanks to the footbridges and numerous vehicles (including bikes and quads) we move efficiently around the deck. It's also possible to acquire diving equipment allowing us to explore the depths. We can also use drones to easily find new places of interest.

One of the key elements of the game is taking care of the basic character stats and factors, such as endurance, strength, and hunger. It is necessary to search for food (bird eggs, canned drinks, etc.) and to provide the hero with shelter from changing weather conditions. We are allowed to adapt the ship's rooms to our needs, placing power generators, lighting or a refrigerator in them.

In 30 Days on Ship, there are plenty of encounters with aggressive representatives of the local fauna, including sharks and lizards. In many cases, we will have to use a diverse arsenal against them (including a baseball bat and firearms). In dramatic situations we can be forced to save ourselves by running away.
