Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack Description
Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack is a 2D point-and-click adventure game inspired by the genre's greats. It was developed by a small indie studio Warm Kitten and crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
Plot
The game's titular protagonist - Justin Wack - is going through some hard times. He's neck-deep in IT work and still can't get over a recent breakup. As if that wasn't enough, an accident involving a microwave oven hurls him back in time, as he switches places with the caveman Clute. They must both find their way in completely unfamilliar places - and figure out who's the one sending out robots after them.
Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack is a cheerful, humorous adventure game. Logic mostly takes a backseat in favor of the absurd.
Mechanics
Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack is an almost textbook recreation of a 1990s point-and-click adventure game. The player must traverse various locations, talk to characters, gather items and use them to solve puzzles.
There are several playable characters, all of whom face different challenges. As in other adventure games, some puzzles have highly abstract solutions, especially since the characters can share items acquired in different places and time periods. Fortunately, the player can always receive hints from Daela without being told the exact solutions.
Technical aspects
Justin Wack and the Big Time Hack visually resembles 2D adventure games from the 1990s, though it still has its own unique artstyle. There's no realism - the characters and locations are rather simple, but very colorful. The areas, both prehistoric and modern, are all very diverse. Combined with the unserious audio, the game is very humorous overall.
The game was fully voiced in English.
