Cryptmaster

Cryptmaster is an original game with RPG and adventure game elements, made in the convention of dungeon crawler. It was developed by indie developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams, while it was published by Akupara Games.

Plot

The action of the game Cryptmaster will wrap up in the underworld, where the four protagonists wake up, resurrected by an eccentric character - the title Cryptmaster. Their "savior" has brought them back to life for a reason; at his command, they must embark on a journey through the layers of the dungeons and face the challenges that await them.

Mechanics

In Cryptmaster, we observe the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). We take control of the whole team and traverse the dungeons, getting to know their unusual inhabitants (in addition to ghouls and toads we meet, among others, talking doors), solving various puzzles and finally facing enemies. The fun is enriched by various mini-games, such as card skirmishes, fishing, rap bard competitions or collecting creatures.

What distinguishes the described title from other representatives of the genre is the text-based mechanics. This is because conducting conversations, solving puzzles and fighting are based here on typing (or speaking into a microphone) key words. In this way we interact with the world and characters, derive attacks with white weapons, and cast spells. In doing so, the game gives us quite a lot of freedom, so nothing prevents us from experimenting.... Which not infrequently leads to funny situations.

Technical aspects

Cryptmaster features a unique graphics, which looks like drawn in charcoal. Although the color scheme is dominated by black and white, from time to time we also encounter other colors (such as blue or purple).
