Rennsport is a realistic racing simulator focused primarily on esports multiplayer competitions. Behind its creation are two firms: the Polish Teyon team and the German Competition company (the former initiated the work in 2021, and the latter joined after several months as a co-developer and publisher). The development was also assisted by a wide range of experts from various fields related to sim racing and motorsports.

The game was originally released in a free-to-play model, but then it was made a paid product with a more traditional business model when it left early access.

Gameplay

The creators of Rennsport aimed to realistically capture the specifics of driving a race car and participating in competition on the track as much as possible. This means that mastering the racing machines requires skill, and the competitions follow rules similar to those in reality (so there is no question of, for example, pushing rivals with impunity or cutting corners).

User Reviews Summary generated by AI

The main pros of the game

  • Graphics: Many users appreciate the visual quality, noting that the game looks good, especially in terms of car and track detail.
  • Free-to-Play Model: The game is accessible without an upfront cost, allowing players to try it out without financial commitment. There is a rotating selection of free cars available each week.
  • Potential for Improvement: Some reviews indicate that the game has a solid foundation and potential for growth, especially if the developers address current issues.
  • Community and Multiplayer: There are indications of an active community, with scheduled races and events, which could enhance the multiplayer experience.

The main cons of the game

  • Monetization Model: The in-game purchases are heavily criticized, with many users feeling that the pricing for cars and the existence of a battle pass are predatory and excessive. Cars are priced similarly to premium titles, making it hard to justify the costs.
  • Driving Physics and Force Feedback: Many players report that the driving experience feels disconnected and lacks realism. The force feedback is often described as poor or overly simplistic.
  • Limited Content: The game currently offers very few cars and tracks for free, with the majority locked behind paywalls. Users feel that the content available does not justify the costs.
  • Technical Issues: Several reviews mention bugs, poor optimization, and performance issues, such as low frame rates and menu responsiveness problems.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • AI Opponents: There is a notable absence of AI for single-player experiences, limiting gameplay options for those who prefer not to race against others.
  • Car Customization and Setups: Players are looking for more in-depth car setup options beyond basic adjustments, which are currently limited.
  • VR Support: Although there are mentions of VR being planned, users express frustration over its current lack of functionality.
  • Improved Physics and Feedback: Many users desire a more realistic driving experience, including better tire models and more immersive feedback from the cars.

Summary

  • In summary, while RENNSPORT has some appealing aspects, particularly its graphics and potential for community engagement, it faces significant criticism regarding its monetization strategies, driving mechanics, and overall content availability. Users are hopeful for future improvements but express skepticism about the current state of the game.
