Seed Description
Seed is a network strategy game, in which we build and supervise a human colony on a foreign planet with conditions similar to Earth, cooperating and competing with other players. The concept of the game was born thanks to the scientific experiment Biosphere 2, in which scientists tried to recreate in a small, self-sufficient and closed space the living and social conditions characteristic for the human society living on Earth. Klang Games studio is responsible for creating this production. Developers were also assisted by Professor Lawrence Lessig, a lecturer in law at Harvard University, activist and creator of the famous Creative Commons license.
Mechanics
In Seed, the player's task is to build, develop and supervise a human colony on a foreign planet - from the moment of landing a capsule with colonists (the so-called Seedlings), to the creation of the whole state and advanced social structures. Importantly, the colonies of all players are on the same "exoplanet", meaning that conflict over limited natural resources is inevitable (we can produce weapons and build armed forces). We can also cooperate with others - small communities have the chance to become something much bigger.
The world economy in Seed is entirely based on what can be built and gained by individual players - goods can be sold on the global market. Colony management also requires paying attention to the needs of individual inhabitants (e.g. hunger, thirst, fatigue), and even the relationships that develop between them (they can love, hate, give birth to children... and even kill). Every decision we make has an impact on the situation on the planet.
Game modes
Seed has only multiplayer mode.
Technical aspects
The creators of Seed focused on 3D graphics, which are characterized by a peculiar minimalism. Models of the characters, surrounding buildings and objects are slightly simplified so that the game world is transparent and unmistakable. The original artistic style makes the game look interesting and help it stand out from other titles.
