GameWatcher: 7 / 10 by Nick Horth
Grand Ages: Medieval remains an acquired taste, but it's certainly the most accessible game in the series to date. The trading mechanics are intuitive enough to avoid confusion, while remaining complex enough to encourage micromanagement and enjoyable risk-reward tinkering. Simplistic combat and a lack of variety mean that it begins to run out of steam by the end-game, but if you're looking for a more relaxed approach to world domination, Grand Ages: Medieval is a perfectly solid option.
Examiner: 3 / 5 by Joe McCallister
Grand Ages: Medieval attempts to do something a bit new in the strategy genre, offering a more economic and diplomatic take on building an empire. Unfortunately some rough cuts between a singular style, lack of context clues, and intuitive feedback, as well as a number-driven affair that becomes apparent entirely too quickly leaves the player feeling as though there just isn't a ton of variation here.

It's probably not a game that you're going to spend too long playing online, and the AI is generally too soft for its own good, but Grand Ages: Medieval is the kind of game that, every time I sat down to play it, I'd lose time and end up playing for a half dozen hours or longer. There is perhaps nothing more rewarding that watching a tiny village grow into a mighty empire, and that counts double when the expansion happens through non-violent strategic thinking. It's not quite Europa Universalis, or even Nobunaga's Ambition, but it's difficult to think of a more accessible, effective grand strategy game than Grand Ages: Medieval.

Grand Ages: Medieval Description
Grand Ages: Medieval is a 3D real-time medieval strategy game with economy elements, made by the Gaming Minds studio. The developer has multiple years of experience in creating RTS productions and has previously released such titles as Patrician IV, Port Royale 3 and Rise of Venice. It is worth mentioning that Grand Ages: Medieval is the sequel to Grand Ages: Rome, a title released in 2009 by the Haemimont Games studio.
During the adventure we are thrown into the world of medieval Europe; the action of the game begins in the year 1050. Most of the gameplay takes place on the giant map of the entire continent, as well as northern Africa and the Middle East. The player's main task is to build a prosperous kingdom. There are about 50 technologies connected to economics and the army, along with 20 different kinds of resources, which can be gathered or purchased trough trade with the neighbors. The players can also build cities, chart new roads, set out trade routes and develop the infrastructure on their quest to create the strongest nation.
The growth of your kingdom does not have to take place in a peaceful manner, you have a number of different unit types at your disposal, ranging from archers, through infantry to cavalry. Apart from the possibility of an enemy invasion, there are also other threats to your civilization, such as earthquakes, droughts and plagues. The game features both the single and the multiplayer mode designed for up to 8 players.
When it comes to the technical side of Grand Ages: Medieval the developers have decided to use the already existing technology and 3D graphic engine which have been utilized in their previous productions.
