Under Defeat

Under Defeat HD is a remastered and improved version of Under Defeat, which was released on Dreamcast in 2006. This shoot'em up game was very popular among players even though it was officially released as one of the last games on the Sega console. The game was developed by G.rev, specializing in action and fighting games. The developer is also responsible for preparing the remaster.

Plot

Under Defeat HD is an alternative version of our world and takes us back to World War II. We play the role of a pilot of a military helicopter, fighting in the ranks of the Empire, modeled on Nazi Germany. Our opponents are the Union's troops, which stylistically correspond to the Allied forces.

Mechanics

The gameplay model is extremely simple. The helicopter moves up the moving screen. The enemies are attacking us from the ground and the air - we face tanks, turrets, guns, planes, and helicopters. We have access to two main types of weapons. These are a machine gun with unlimited ammunition and bombs, of which we have a maximum of six during the game. We get additional bombs by destroying enemies, but we can also get one of three special additional weapons (Vulcan Machine Gun, Cannon and Rocket Grenade). When using this weapon, we must remember that after using it, you have to wait a little while for it to be usable again.

Technical aspects

Although the gameplay of Under Defeat HD resembles classic two-dimensional shooters, all the objects in the game were made in 3D, which adds depth to the environment and makes the game more attractive. The remastered version of the title slightly improves textures and graphics and allows you to play the game on a widescreen screen.
