Very unique two-dimensional platformer from the independent developer PlayDead. We play as a small boy who sets on dangerous journey to save his sister. He traverses surrealistic landscapes, coming across many deadly traps and running away from monstrous spider, which follow him tirelessly. In terms of gameplay, Limbo borrows from classic platform titles, though not without adding a few original features.

Limbo Description
Limbo for PC, X360 and etc. is an interesting platformer and independent title, similar to Braid and Super Meat Boy. It has been made by small Danish studio PlayDead located in Copenhagen, and its idea was born in mind of Arnt Jensen at the end of 2006. The game received many awards, two even before its debut, at Independent Game Festival 2010 (during Game Developers Conference).
Plot
We play as a little boy, who sets on a dangerous journey to rescue his daughter. Travelling through surrealistic environment of black and white lands with grotesque and horrific elements, he must avoid many deadly dangers, like snares, swamps and falling rocks. And there is a monstrous spider that tirelessly follows the boy.
Game mechanics
Developers decided for a complex gameplay, operating with many fresh ideas and concepts from other games. The core of the game is an advanced physics engine, which plays a key role in most puzzles. We also have to watch out for many well-hidden traps. Considering that many times the player has to act very quickly, this game is certainly not the easiest.
Technical aspects
One of the most interesting aspects of Limbo for PC, X360 and etc. is definitely a very mysterious atmosphere, which developers achieved through peculiar visuals, consisting only of black and white elements, and sound is used sparsely (with practically no music at all), making the game look like work of early 20th century’s expressionists. This makes our journey rather disturbing, even though the plot elements are barely sketched out.
