A special version of first-person shooter Gal*Gun, developed for virtual reality headsets. We play as an unlucky high-school student, who has to deal with unusual curse that attracts all the girls he meets. His only chance to fight back is a pheromone weapon to avert their attention.
Gal*Gun VR for PC is a humorous, three-dimensional rail shooter, in which we shoot harmless bullets at ecstatic high-school girls. It is the work of Inti Creates, a Japanese studio established in 1996 by former employees of Capcom, mainly known from their entries in Mega Man series. Gal*Gun VR is a special version of the first game in its series, which has been released in Japan for PlayStation 3 an Xbox One. Developers changed most story cutscenes and changed its structure to adjust it to virtual reality headsets.
Plot
The main hero of the game is Tenzou Motesugi, an ordinary high-school student who by accident gets hit by several cupid’s arrows. This makes him the most popular guy in his school, as all girls instantly fall in love when they seem him. But there is a huge problem: if he fails to find his true love and win her heart before sunset, when the effect will wear off, he will be destined to live alone forever. To fend of waves of girls that try to confess to him, he receives a special weapon loaded with pheromones.
Game mechanics
Gal*Gun VR uses first-person perspective and is a classic rail shooter, in which we only control the crosshair while the camera act by itself. As mentioned before, protagonist uses the pheromone weapon that brings girls to euphoria and makes them unable to chase after him. Each of them has their unique weak spots, hitting which earns more points.
Technical aspects
PC’s version of Gal*Gun VR uses colorful three-dimensional visuals based on modern anime series, which should appeal to fans of Japanese pop culture. The game works with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets.
