Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark is a continuation of the production released in 2023, which in turn was a spin-off of the Gal*Gun series, launched in 2011. As before, this is a metroidvania realized in the form of an action platform game, developed by Inti Creates, a studio known for the Gunvolt series and a number of Mega Man titles.

The world of the game and the challenges waiting in it

Unlike the previous game under this banner, where the world was limited to a single castle, this time we get the entire demonic realm at our disposal. While traversing it, we jump on platforms, avoid terrain obstacles and traps, as well as engage in dynamic duels with enemies.

The interconnected locations form a kind of maze, with access to many places requiring the prior unlocking of a specific skill. This makes it worth returning to already visited levels, as things may be waiting for us there that we were not able to discover before.

Heroes

The game allows us to freely switch between two heroines - Kirika and Masha. This is important because they have been differentiated in terms of their preferred weaponry, fighting style and combat skills, so they complement each other. While Kirika specializes in fighting with demonic ranged weapons, Masha eliminates enemies in close quarters, making use of a whip.

In addition, the protagonists have additional weapons at their disposal, which are linked to the demonic energy accumulated along the way. Our protagonists can also resurrect each other if one of them falls on the battlefield.

Items and abilities

As youprogress, you'llacquire various pieces of equipment, including disposable items, additional weapons and so-called "Demon Relics" that provide you with passive upgrades. They are associated with a variety of skills that can be used on the battlefield and during exploration. In addition, a system has been implemented in the game that allows us to combine and craft additional weapons.

Castle of the Demon Lord and its inhabitants

Our base of departure is the castle belonging to the Demon Lord. Over time, we are joined by allies who end up in our command center, serving us in various ways.

Coop

Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark can be played solo or in local co-op mode.

Storyline

Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark takes us to a fantastic universe created for the brand. During the game we play as Kirika and Masha, two warrior sisters who decide to set off on a journey through the land of demons to find their ruler - Maxim - and restore his rightful place on the throne. Along the way they will have to face demons, make alliances with them and face demon hunters coming from the human kingdom.
