The action is observed from the side, as in other classic shootings, such as Wings of Fury or P-47: The Freedom Fighter. The fighter is equipped with a laser gun, which can be upgraded by collecting bonuses, and special weapons, activated on request with a second key. The suit of the latter is impressive and consists not only of rockets and bombs, but also of all sorts of energetic missiles.
The game is divided into stages, in which we have to face a huge number of enemy ships. There is constant chaos on the screen, and even on the easiest level of difficulty, bypassing bullets spitting in your direction requires great gymnastics. Each level is crowned with a fight against the so-called "boss", which is usually a large ship with a powerful arsenal. To destroy it, you must first find a weak point and concentrate the fire there.
Visual setting, especially the animation of ships does not raise any major objections. Fox Ranger is also characterized by a smooth "scrolling", which is of great importance for such a large number of enemy units on the screen at the same time. As far as sound is concerned, we will find here not only musical works and classical effects, but also poor quality parts of digitized speech.
