Steam
A two-dimensional action game developed by Rock Wall Games. The players assume control of a unit of bloodthirsty ants that fight against other teams on two-dimensional arenas. The gameplay of Formicide is very similar to the famed Worms series, with a small exception – the game is much more dynamic, as the combat takes place in real time rather than in a turn-based system.
Formicide for PC is a two-dimensional action game in which the players take control of a group of ant soldiers. The game is a debut project of an independent Rock Wall Games, based in New York. The developers were inspired by a number of team-based games, including Quake, Worms, or Liero.
Mechanics
The gameplay is similar to what we could encounter in the Worms series, yet it is much more dynamic, as the battles take place in real time. The players clash on a two-dimensional, multileveled arenas with an objective to eliminate the ants from the opposing team. The task isn’t easy, as the insects are fast and agile, while the available weaponry (including carbines, rocket launchers, or flame throwers) offer a multitude of approaches and tactics.
We can choose from a number of modes, including Deathmatch or Capture the Flag. Moreover, the game supports fan-created content, enabling more invested players to modify the weaponry or the locations, as well as the appearance of their ants.
