Mechanics

The studio Petroglyph is full of gamemakers that have co-created the Command & Conquer series. Forged Battalion for PC is similar to that franchise in many ways, but at the same time, the creators made sure to implement fresh concepts here, making the project something more than just a copy of old classics from the genre. As in a standard RTS game, the player constructs bases and produces units in order to make use of them against hostile armies. Interestingly however, the player is not only the commander in this game, as they also serve the role of the engineer – one's forces include infantry equipped with power armors, as well as different kinds of machines, such as tanks, planes or even mechs. Each of such units has to be designed by the players themselves, and the game offers a lot of different skeletons, engines, components and weapons.

Alongside progression, the player unlocks subsequent branches of the game's complex technology tree, gradually acquiring access to better parts. Such a system allows the player to quickly adapt to the current situation on the battlefield, and if needed, to completely remodel one's forces in order for them to become more effective against a specific enemy type.

Game modes

Forged Battalion for PC offers a story campaign, as well as multiplayer skirmishes for up to 8 players in a session – those can be played in a few different modes. Also, a co-op mode was included.
