Forge of the Fae PC

Forge of the Fae is a 2D isometric turn-based RPG game. It is the debut project of the independent studio Datadyne.

Plot

In Forge of the Fae we find ourselves in an open fantasy world inspired by Celtic folklore and steampunk. It is full of intrigue, adventure and magic.

The main character of the story is the brilliant inventor Fiora. Together with her friend Ceilia, she sets off on a journey to unravel the mystery of the power hidden in the crystals. The situation is not made easier by the miners' strike, which is being suppressed by force by the Mining Company.

People are starting to disappear, and one of them is Roark's son. He joins our team with the hope that we will help him in his search.

Gameplay

The action in the game was shown in an isometric view. Each character in our team has a distinctive playstyle and individual statistics, which we can improve as we gain higher experience levels.

The turn-based combat system requires tactical planning of each battle. We have skills and magical spells at our disposal. In addition, our heroes accumulate adrenaline during combat, the release of which allows for additional unique attacks characteristic of a given character.

During skirmishes, we can also use crystals that allow us to rely on magic in a unique way. With their help, we create combinations that merge magical abilities with a specific skill. This allows to create a balanced and strong team, which will be prepared for any challenge.

An important element of the gameplay is also exploration of the world. On our path, we encounter many secrets, the solution of which brings rewards. Every encountered character has their own story, which often provides an opportunity to perform a side quest.

The game has implemented a day and night system, as well as various weather conditions. At night, there are more dangers on the road than during the day. Additionally, dusk opens up areas for us that are only accessible at this time. In turn, changing weather requires adapting strategies to it, as it can work against us.

Technical aspects

The game is characterized by pixel art graphics, which were inspired by the classic 16-bit RPG games. The soundtrack with Celtic accents, created in collaboration with Emili Evans, also deserves special mention. The artist has such titles in her portfolio as: Nier Automata, Dark Souls and Drakengard 3.
