First in a series of Ford's advertising programs, which not only provides a considerable amount of information about Ford's products, but also allows you to test them in operation on a computer screen.
The program covers all models of Ford's cars, which were available for purchase in 1987. In alphabetical order they are: Aerostar, Bronco II, Continental, Cougar, Escort, Festiva, Mark VII, Mustang GT, Mustang LX, Ranger, Scorpio, Taurus, Topaz, Tracer, Turbo Coupe and XR4Ti. Using the Buyer's Guide option included in the program you can browse through the detailed technical data of these cars and get the necessary information about the possibility of purchase (let's not forget that this is an advertising product, of course outdated today). From the player's point of view, the most interesting is the first option, allowing you to check each of the sixteen cars on the improvised route.
There are four variants of the game. Touring is a slow ride without any deeper goal. Drag Strip allows you to try to accelerate each of the cars. On a short, straight section of the route, we give you the gas as much as the factory has given, and then check how fast the vehicle reaches a speed of 60 miles per hour. Slalom, as the name suggests, focuses on bypassing obstacles along the entire route. The last variant is the Grand Prix, in which we race for time on a winding track. Here you can set the number of laps (1-5).
Ford Simulator offers a good driving model. It should be noted that each of the sixteen cars behaves differently on the road. The audio-visual setting does not knock down, but it is still better than in many other games from those years. It's a pity that they didn't try to vary the upholstery depending on what kind of car we were driving, but it was certainly a graphic luxury that was hard to afford. Generally, Ford Simulator is an interesting product, which may be of interest to both automotive fans and enthusiasts of fast car games.
