Football, Tactics & Glory

Football, Tactics & Glory is an independent game combining elements of turn-based strategies and football club management simulators. The player completes the players, develops their skills and proves them in turn-based matches. Ukrainian Creoteam is responsible for the development and release of the game.

Plot

A player takes on the role of a promising young player who suffers a serious injury during one of the matches and has to stop his career. 15 years later an ex-player is contacted by a mysterious investor and offered the position of manager of an insignificant club. From now on, our task is to lead the football team to the top of the Premier League.

Mechanics

Football, Tactics & Glory is a combination of a football club management simulator and turn-based strategy in the style of XCOM games. In the management mode we can buy players and take care of their development. In the match mode we make a series of moves alternately with the opponent.

The pitch is divided into square, chessboard-style fields. In each of the rounds, the player is given the opportunity to make a few moves with the members of the team. These can be orders to move around, pass, shoot on goal, etc. If the chosen action means contact with a player of the opposing team (e.g. when we give a shot order to the goal and there is an enemy defender on the way to the ball's flight), the chance of success of the action is calculated on the basis of relevant statistics of each player. Players' abilities are determined by features such as accuracy, proficiency in passing, defense and control.

The game is also influenced by the unique skills of individual players (e.g. the ability to capture shots and passes in adjacent fields) and the environmental conditions on the pitch (high temperatures will make the players suffer more quickly).

Game modes

The game offers a single player campaign mode in which our team climbs the career ladder from the amateur league to the Premier League.

In the area of multi-player games we have access to clashes via the Internet and to the hot seat mode.

Technical issues

Football, Tactics & Glory was made in quite simple, colorful graphics. An interesting element of the visuals is the so-called Face Engine, a system that generates the faces of players: the face of each player is determined by 150 different, detailed features.

The game supports modifications through the Steam Workshop system. Players can create and share their own leagues and teams.

The creators have also implemented a number of functions integrating gameplay with the Twitch streaming service. The player transmitting the game can change the names of his players for viewing nicknames. It can also activate a feature that will display messages from Twitch chat inside the game in the form of balloons hovering over the audience. Audiences can also vote on what the player's next steps should be.
