Flinthook is a roguelike platform game developed by the indie studio Tribute Games. We play as a space pirate who is also a treasure hunter. We will have to face an ancient evil that threatens the entire universe. The game is presented from a side-scrolling perspective and takes place on procedurally generated spaceships.

The Plot
Flinthook is both the game’s title and the protagonist’s name. He is one of the treasure hunting space pirates who travel through the galaxy in order to find fortune and glory. His rather simple life changed when one of his competitors decided to awake ancient evil that threatens the entire universe. Our hero has nothing else to do but grab his weapon and face the enemy.
Mechanics
Flinthook for PC, SWITCH and etc. is a side-scroller. The game takes place on procedurally generated space ships. Our hero has a set of tools at his disposal that will not only make it easier for him to move around the locations but also aid him in combat. The first gadget he owns is a hookshot. With it, he can move quickly from one platform to another and avoid traps and enemy fire. Another one is Blasma Pistol used by Flinthook in combat with numerous enemies and powerful bosses. Beating the latter ones requires good reflexes, agility, and finding their weaknesses. Your compass creature will guide you to them. We have to feed it from time to time. Given the fact that the game is fast paced, the ability to slow time also comes in handy. As we progress, we will unlock new weapons that will make our hero more powerful.
Game Modes
Even though Flinthook for PC, SWITCH and etc. is a single player game, online rankings and weekly and daily challenges imitate the multiplayer mode in some way.
Technical Aspects
Just like many indie games, Flinthook has eye-pleasing, 2D pixelart visuals. Flinthook also has a dynamic soundtrack composed especially for the game.
