Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm is another of a series of extremely complex strategy games that allow us to conduct large-scale warfare. It was created by On Target Simulations, a studio specializing in this type of productions, and released by Matrix Games/Slitherine duo.

The game presents the fate of three fictitious invasions of NATO forces on the territory of the USSR, set in the 80s of the last century in the realities of the Cold War. The battlefield became the territory of central Europe - we carry out our activities on several maps that faithfully reflect the political division of the time and the terrain. In total, the creators have prepared more than 20 scenarios divided into two campaigns, in which we can take command of both the Soviet army and the North Atlantic Alliance troops. The game takes place in a turn-based system, thanks to which we can carefully plan our actions and react to the opponent's decisions without the need to give orders in real time.

During the fight we use several hundred units reconstructed with attention to historical realities and details deciding about their usefulness in the selected area. Among them you will find combat machines useful for air and land combat, such as planes, helicopters, tanks, self-propelled guns and jeeps, as well as infantry units. The results are influenced not only by the used war arsenal, but also by the combat conditions - the game requires us to adapt to the dynamically changing weather, as well as the terrain or time of day. The active system of war fog is also a hindrance.

Production boasts advanced artificial intelligence, challenging even the most experienced players in battles. Enemies can skillfully use even the smallest stumble of a player and react dynamically to the changing realities of the fight. A number of information and statistics received after each turn helps to quickly revise the chosen combat tactics and change the combat plan.

The activities are carried out in a manner typical for this type of production - the battlefield is presented in the form of a map with marked places and characteristic points and changes in the configuration of the terrain, and the units are presented in the form of markers. The game includes an extensive editor, allowing you to change or create new scenarios - the title is also susceptible to any modifications from players. The production allows you to play in single player mode as well as face-to-face battles with your opponent over the Internet.
