Five Nights at Freddy's Description
Five Nights at Freddy's for PC, WP and etc. is an original horror game requiring the player to survive an encounter with murderous mascots at a pizza bar and casting them into the role of a night guard. The game was created by Scott Cawthon – an independent developer popular mainly for The Desolate Hope and several simplistic mobile games.
Plot
The player assumes the role of a watchman who takes up a seasonal job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. A teddybear named Freddy and his two robotic friends are the main amusement the restaurant offers. This seemingly easy task of guarding the place turns into a true nightmare during the very first night, because the protagonist discovers that sympathetic animatronics come to life at night and their attitude towards anyone inside is rather hostile. On their own and staying inside one room, the protagonist makes use only of a monitoring system and a low-capacity battery in order to survive the encounter with the murderous mascots trying to kill them.
Mechanics
Five Nights at Freddy's for PC, WP and etc. is hard to classify in terms of the genre. The player is required to be able to make quick decisions, as well as to remain observant. Above all, the game can often scare even the most dubious players.
Throughout the game, the protagonist stays in a watch room located in the middle of the building. However, it cannot lock itself in just like that – the entire mission here is to make it to the end of the night through managing the power accumulated in the battery appropriately. The power is drained when the player uses different devices, such as the lighting or monitoring systems. Thus the player observes particular rooms through the cameras. When they notice that the robots have disappeared or changed their location, the player has to track them immedietely, for it usually means the animatronics are moving towards the watch room. When one of the robots is close to the protagonist's room, it is crucial to lock either the door on the left or right in order to stay alive.
To finish the game, the player has to survive five subsequent nights (from 12 a.m to 6 a.m). The first night is obviously the easiest and every player should be able to finish it without a struggle. With each subsequent night however, the difficulty level is increased and the animatronics apply more and more sophisticated tactics in order to fool the protagonist. Fortunately, the player does not have to start from the very beginning in case the protagonist died - the player is simply brought back to the last midnight.
