The game realistically recreates fishing in modern times. You can try it in the waters of the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. You start out with a shabby trawler inherited from your grandfather, but as you progress, you earn money to buy a better ship and equipment.
The production is very realistic, but also user-friendly at the same time. The controls system allows you to easily start your fishing adventure, but to achieving mastery requires effort. The bodies of water have been based on real-life data, and steering the trawler is faithfully rendered. You can use a sonar, radar, and GPS module. The developer also gained a license to use the Scanmar equipment, such as the TrawlEye system, which detects fish and shrimp, and Catch Control Systems, which allows you to control all the devices on your ship. Moreover, one of the six player ships is the real-life Hermes, built in 2001 and currently sailing under the Norwegian flag.
In Fishing: Barents Sea for {PLAT), you mostly search for the best fisheries and catch the fish. However, you have to remember not to exceed any catching limits. You also need to employ a crew and manage them, buy supplies and bait, and e.g. apply for loans. You can also complete certain tasks and visit the port pub.
Each trip has to be carefully planned, taking into account not only the characteristics of a given locations, but also weather conditions. The simulated environment, which also includes water temperature and changing seasons, was based on two decades of real-life meteorological data. There is also an advanced AI module, which controls the behavior of the fish.
Technical aspects
