First Wonder
A third-person action game, realized with a slight wink of an eye, being a spiritual heir to such classics as Giants: Citizen Kabuto or MDK series.
First Wonder is a third-person action game, done in a humorous way. The game is the spiritual successor to such classics as Giants: Citizen Kabuto and MDK series. The title was developed by Rogue Rocket Games. The studio is led by Nick Bruty, who in addition to both of the mentioned productions, has also worked on Earthworm Jim and Armed and Dangerous.
Plot
The action of First Wonder takes place on a planet called Majorca, where a greedy corporation used deception to force the inhabitants to give up land for the construction of a luxury resort. During construction work, workers unwittingly woke up a giant named Monstro, whose sole purpose is to complete the work of destruction and fulfill the words of an ancient prophecy. Cargonauts, equipped with rocket technology, are ordered to defeat the monster.
Mechanics
The game is shown in a third-person perspective, and during the game, we can play both as one of the Cargonauts, as well as the giant itself. During combat, our protagonist uses a special jetpack, as well as cleverness, various tools and a whole series of sophisticated traps. Playing as a Monstro, we make use of the unique abilities of the giant, who can jump over obstacles, charge at the opponent, or use the terrain to move at lightning speed. The whole game takes place in an open world, where players can move around without any restrictions.
Technical aspects
First Wonder is a kind of development of Nick Bruty's ideas, which for various reasons he was not able to put into practice during previous productions. Graphically, the game uses the full potential of modern equipment, but during the game, it is difficult to avoid obvious comparisons to the unique style and atmosphere of MDK and Giants: Citizen Kabuto.
