First Dwarf

First Dwarf is a third-person cRPG with survival and strategy elements. In the game, we play the role of a dwarven engineer - a pilot of a heavy mecha with a wide range of uses. The game focuses on combat, resource gathering and building settlements.

The action of First Dwarf takes place in a universe known from such titles as Driftland: The Magic Revival and Nomads of Driftland created by the Warsaw-based Star Drifters studio.

Plot

A magical war between four races has brought the world of Driftland to ruin. The conflict tore the planet into sky islands, and reduced the nations inhabiting them to the level of barbarian tribes. The dwarven civilization has long struggled to survive, but in the face of dwindling resources it too is heading inexorably for collapse.

The last hope of the race are the scouts, sent towards the levitating islands with the mission to find new sources of raw materials and a safe place for the clan. One of the pioneers is the engineer Tru - an operator of heavy mana-powered armor - who can count on the help of the dragoness Ragna. For the dwarf, this is not only a chance to save his own clan, but also the beginning of a personal journey through which he will discover the fate of his father.

Game mechanics

First Dwarf is a production of the cRPG genre with an open world. In the course of the adventure we explore the world, take part in clashes with barbarians and aggressive fauna. With successive upgrades of the main character's armor, we get access to new levitating islands. We can also take control of the dwarf's friend Tru - the dragoness Ragna, who performs well in the role of a scout.

An important element of the production is the collection of resources, among which the most important role is played by mana. It is she who is the fuel that powers our mech, as well as the buildings constructed in colonies created for new settlers. In our bases we build, among other things, mines, sawmills or defense turrets, we also try to secure them in case of natural disasters.

In addition to the single-player mode, the work of the Star Drifters studio also allows us to play in local co-op mode (split screen).

Technical aspects

First Dwarf is a 3D game, which is powered by Unreal Engine 5. The game is maintained in a cheerful, colorful style bringing to mind, among others, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
