Fire and Maneuver PC

Fire & Maneuver is a turn-based war strategy that lets players take the role of commanders on the battlefields of the second half of the 19th century. The game is a result of cooperation between Targon Studios team and authors of popular internet documentary series called Armchair History.

Plot

The action of Fire & Maneuver is set in the second half of 19th century, when Queen Victoria ruled in Great Britain (hence the name of this period - Victorian era). Game allows us to stand at the head of the armies of several countries and lead them to victory. In addition to the British Empire, such nations as the Second French Empire, the North German Confederation, the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire are waiting for testing.

Mechanics

In Fire & Maneuver the gameplay takes place on a strategic map, which we see from a bird's eye view. Unlike in most games of this type, the described production does not make us deal with issues related to politics or economy. Instead, we can focus on warfare. The game allows us both to participate in historical battles and follow our own path, leading wars unknown from the history.

The battles take place in turn-based mode. The key to victory is not only deploying the largest and most diverse army possible, but also careful observation of the enemy and developing effective tactics that take into account the weak points of the enemy army or even the terrain. Another thing is that when planning warfare, we need to watch out for surprises and prepare the defense of our territory in time. Besides, it's worth remembering that the constant offensive doesn't necessarily always give us victory; often an equally good solution is to dig in at our positions and let our adversaries make the first blow, and then go on a massive counterattack.

As time passes, we gain access to new units. Besides, the fame that successive victories bring us allows us to create our own regiments and design original uniforms for our soldiers.

Game modes

Fire & Maneuver allows us to play solo and with other players. In multiplayer mode we can compete in both historical scenarios and battles not necessarily based on facts (nothing stands in the way of the British army facing the German troops on the Russian steppes). The game features online rankings, where we can show off our achievements.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of Fire & Maneuver is kept in a colorful, cartoon style known from the Armchair History movies.
