Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest for 3DS is another instalment of the popular tactical jRPG series that has been on the market ever since the 1990. It is the second Fire Emblem game (Fire Emblem: Awakening being the first) released on Nintendo 3DS. It was developed by Intelligent Systems, a studio owned by Nintendo.
The Plot
The game’s story has been divided into two paths: Hoshido and Nohr factions, each of them being available in a different edition of the game (Nohr in Conquest and Hoshiso in Birthright). In both cases, we play as Corrin (name, gender, and appearance of the character can be changed at the beginning of the game) and, depending on the version, we begin our journey as a member of one of the aforementioned factions.
Mechanics
In Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, gameplay is more complex than in Birthright, but the game lacks the Challenge Maps. Of course, the core rules of gameplay remain almost the same as in Fire Emblem: Awakening: we explore the new locations and fight in turn-based encounters on vast maps. Intelligent Systems also created an additional task for the players – to start a revolution in the kingdom of Nohr. During their adventures, players must do various missions, such as defending their bases or breaching the enemy lines. According to the developers, Conquest should be played by more advanced players.
Misc.
Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is a stand-alone game that presents its plot and characters in detail. However, if players would like to know the story of the opposing faction, with the same protagonists as in Conquest, they can buy the Birthright edition for a lower price.
