Developed by British studio Fabrik Games, a top-down gangster action game, combining mechanics of a shooter and a stealth game. The action of Filthy Lucre takes place in a slightly exaggerated version of contemporary London. In the game, you assume the role of a thug who works for one of the criminal underworld’s bosses. When he is robbed of almost all of his savings, your job is to get them back.

Developed for PC and PS4, Filthy Lucre is an action game combining elements of shooters and stealth games. The production was created by Fabric Games from Britain, set up by former employees of Evolution and Sony Liverpool.

Plot

Inspired by British gangster movies, the action takes place in contemporary London, presented in a slightly over-drawn version. You play as a thug working for one of the criminal underworld’s bosses. Once he gets robbed of almost all his savings, it is your job to repossess them.

Mechanics

The action in Filthy Lucre published on PC and PS4 is seen from the top-down view. The game is designed in a way so that each challenge can be dealt with in two ways – you can either stay in low-profile, or engage in open combat. Stealth elimination of targets and shooting with no intention of secrecy pays off equally good. Such a gameplay construction rules out the necessity of restarting a level once you get discovered, which is typical for most of stealth titles. If you make a mistake, you can simply turn to more violent means.

AI fully cooperates with everything mentioned above. It is capable of recognising your style and adjusting enemies’ behaviour to it, so each playing method brings a lot of fun. The wide arsenal of weapons, composed of +30 upgradeable weapons, comes in handy in finishing missions.

The authors provided various kinds of missions, among them a bank robbery, acts of sabotage on the rivals’ businesses, and attacks on headquarters of enemy gangs. The missions are non-linear and you can finish them in many alternative ways. The game features a single player campaign and co-operation.
