Figureheads is a science fiction-based online TPP shooting, in which unmanned combat robots play a major role. The game was created under the responsibility of the Japanese concern Square Enix, a major publisher of such series as Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider or Deus Ex.
At the end of the twentieth century the Earth faced the threat of a collision with a powerful meteorite. Despite the attempts to shoot down debris of cosmic matter, our planet was completely destroyed, and humanity, fearing contamination, moved to special underground shelters. However, in order to enable further exploration of the Earth's surface, the production of unmanned robots began, which in a short time became so widespread that they were also used for entertainment purposes.
This is how a completely new branch of sport was created, in which remote-controlled mosses, referred to as "2Foot", compete with each other. Soon the BOTGame tournaments gained incredible popularity all over the underground world and were organized by the newly established W2BF federation. In the game we play the role of owners of specially adapted combat robots, which compete with each other in licensed sports competitions.
The action of the game was presented in the third-person perspective, and the game itself consists in a network competition between two five-person teams of mosses. The task of the players is to develop their machines, which can be expanded and modified in dozens of different ways as they participate in subsequent competitions and gain experience.
The strong point of Figureheads is the high quality, realistic graphics, not deviating from the leading, high-budget FPS shooters. The game was made available in a free-to-play model with micropayments, which allows for a much faster development of the machines and thus gain a valuable advantage over the competition.
