Fighting Fantasy: House of Hell, released on PC, AND and iOS, is a paragraph game enriched with RPG elements. The game was developed by Tin Man Games studio as an adaptation of a paper paragraph game of the same title, created by Steve Jackson.
Plot
The story begins with the breakdown of our car. Due to the storm, the hero needs to get help and find shelter. He decides to look for a house. Unfortunately, the residence, in which he ends up, is occupied by monsters, spirits, and Satan's worshippers. Our task is to keep the character alive and find a way to escape from this cursed place.
Mechanics
In Fighting Fantasy: House of Hell, the player explores locations, avoids traps, solves puzzles and fights monsters. All this was done in text form, supported by RPG mechanics. We spend most of the time reading the story which is accompanied by illustrations added here and there. We are also regularly asked to choose between several actions - these decisions take the plot on a different track.
Apart from that, the game also has mechanics typical for RPG games, which bring some variety to the gameplay. The player's character is described by a set of various statistics, such as strength or condition. During the game, the system regularly tests these values with dice rolls, and their results determine whether the action is successful or not. The combat is done in the same way.
