FIFA Soccer Manager is the first football manager created by EA Sports, a subdivision of Electronic Arts dedicated to the development of sports games. The game is characterized by considerable complexity of the game. When starting the game, you should choose one of the five available leagues. The player can choose between English, French, German, Scottish and Italian. The official FIFA license ensures the presence of official club names and players who play in them

The task of a player is to play as a manager of one of such clubs. It has a wide field of action. It is very important to set the right tactics. The authors have put at the disposal of the player many ready-made schemes. But equally well it can set everything without the help of a computer. The player can decide on the distribution of players on the pitch, the type of their behaviour in specific situations or actions in the team (leading out counterattacks, positional game). Changes are possible both before and during the game. In the latter case, however, the scope for action is very limited. In addition to setting tactics for subsequent matches, the player has to take care of improving the team. This is done in several different ways. It is possible to make transfers. Regular trainings are very important.

The characteristic element of the game is a lot of all kinds of coefficients. This applies primarily to the players themselves, who have been described with features such as speed, accuracy and response time to specific actions by the opposing team. After each match played, the game displays extensive statistics. Thanks to them it is possible to find out how effective the shots were for selected players or, for example, which of them had health problems and should be treated or removed from the team. Graphics consists mainly of hundreds of tables and lists. The match itself was shown quite symbolically. Events that take place on the pitch are viewed in an isometric view, with full control over their speed (the final result can be displayed immediately).
