Prepared by Electronic Arts, the next installment of the beloved series of football games, in which players can direct their favorite clubs and teams and have fun in one of several modes. The title brings more news, designed to bring the struggles on virtual fields closer to real matches.
Mechanics
FIFA 2001 provides football fans with sixteen national leagues and sixty national teams. Each of these available teams can be checked in a single friendly game, a series of leagues or tournaments and a season module, in which the selected team is led for several years, fighting for trophies. Players can compete for a triumph in the elite Champions League or to win the world championships. Nothing stands in the way of them creating their own footballer or team using the appropriate module, and that's what they achieved the trophy with.
As in the case of the previously published parts of the cycle, this time, too, the struggles are skillful and often end with high, unprecedented results in football. Among the novelties influencing the course of matches, the most important is the possibility of intentional fouling of the opponent, as well as the presence of a shooting stripe. Depending on the level of filling when hitting the goal, the player sends the ball lighter or stronger. Traditionally, the intelligence of players led by artificial intelligence and their reactions to commands has also been improved.
Technical aspects
FIFA 2001 is a three-dimensional sports game. The authors used a new graphic engine. They increased the number of player animations, whose movements were developed on the basis of motion-capture sessions and prepared detailed stadiums. Sounds of team members screaming or arguing with the referee add to the additional character of the field struggle. The soundtrack of the game includes songs by Moby, The Source and Grand Theft Auto.
