Fantasy Life Description
Fantasy Life, released on 3DS, is an original combination of a life simulator with elements characteristic for the RPG genre. The game was developed by Level-5 studio.
Plot
In Fantasy Life, the player ends up in a fantasy world called Reveria, full of cities, high mountains and lush grassy meadows. The idyll of its inhabitants was interrupted by the catastrophic rain of meteorites. It seems that the event described in numerous prophecies involves supernatural forces, led by the goddess Lunares. Our character is asked to carry out an investigation in order to explain the mysterious circumstances of this incident. The plot, although interesting and enriched with various plot points and intrigues, is only a background.
Mechanics
The core of this production is the gameplay, which focuses primarily on the development of our character. FantasyLife allows you to choose from twelve character classes - including not only a mage, paladin, and hunter, but also miner, alchemist and even cook. By performing tasks related to a particular craft, the protagonist receives stars. Once we receive enough of them, we get promoted in the guild hierarchy.
Apart from that, each activity results in gaining experience points and gaining a new level which helps us develop stats typical for RPGs. It is worth mentioning that after making enough progress, we get the option to choose another class, so nothing stands in our way of leading a paladin who is skilled both with a sword and a spatula.
Exploration is also an important part of the game. As the story progresses, we unlock access to new locations, where we can encounter new enemies and resources. Dynamic clashes with enemies take place in real time, and defeating more powerful enemies requires not only stronger weapons but also appropriate tactics. We extract resources by completing QTEs (quick time events) of increasing difficulty.
Technical aspects
Fantasy Life on 3DS is characterized by an eye-catching and colorful graphic design. The action takes place in a three-dimensional environment, and the events are observed from a camera suspended high above the hero.
