Fantasy Hero ~unsigned legacy~ for SWITCH is a Japanese action role-playing game developed by Arc System Works known perfectly for Japanese games fans. The creators are responsible for a number of games from such series as Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball, and BlazBlue.
Plot
Humans are in peace with the nature and live in huge forests where they foster future generations. Knowledge is passed from happy parents to children. This idyllic life comes to an end when bright lights appear on the blue sky. With that light arrive evil forces. Horrible, deformed creatures with claws and sharp teeth go on their bloody tour through the world.
It has been twelve years since the arrival of the invaders called the Decoders. There are, however, brave souls that stand against the evil creatures. The heroes’ mission is to banish the aliens and thus save the world from corruption.
Mechanics
The game introduces four different heroes. Each of them possesses a different playstyle which is accompanied by diverse powers unlocked with the progress. Depending on the character, they can make use of swords, guns, bare hands, or even a giant, levitating robot fist. Equipment can be modified and upgraded during gameplay.
This is a real-time production with a top-down perspective.
Technical aspects
Fantasy Hero is a small game for SWITCH, and it does not aspire to be as good as the genre’s greatest production. The 3D visuals are not very detailed, but they are carried out in cel-shading, therefore the characters and locations look like they were taken from a cartoon. The title has a full voiceover accompanied by static, manga-style images of the heroes.
