An extensive simulation of Formula One races, using the official license of Formula One World Championship Limited. The game was produced by the British studio Codemasters Software, whose output also includes such series as TOCA Race Driver and Colin McRae DiRT. Like its predecessors, F1 2013 allows players to take on the role of a race car driver and compete against artificial intelligence or live opponents on a faithfully recreated track.
F1 2013 is the next edition of the licensed racing game series, developed by Codemasters, who specialize in this genre. For the first time ever the game lets you play as Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Sergio Perez (McLaren - Mercedes).
The game is available in two editions – standard and Classic. Both allow you to play as any of the contestants from 2013 season and drive across virtual counterparts of authentic tracks, or take part in classic races from the 1980's. The difference between the two editions comes down to the races from the 90's, in the times when drivers such as Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Gerhard Berger competed against one another. By default, this feature is only available for buyers of Classic edition, but you can purchase this content as a DLC for the standard edition of F1 2013.
The developers introduced new solutions and remodeled the controls so it could resemble sport racing experience in an even better way. Players can choose from a variety of single- and multiplayer modes. It is possible to race throughout a classic career mode, online multiplayer, and split screen mode. Grand Prix module is back after a year of absence - it allows you to play out an entire racing weekend (training, eliminations, the race). The main feature is the career mode where you begin in one of the weakest teams and climb up the hierarchy to become a Formula 1 champion. There are also specially prepared challenges, in which you are put in situations imagined by the developers. Thus, for example, you can participate in a race, during which an accident occurs.
Moreover, the game is fully integrated with RaceNet service. It allows you to compare your achievements with those of your friends, check your statistics, participate in the community life, etc.
The artwork of F1 2013 stands on an almost identical level as the previous installment. So again it is a spectacular game rich in details. On the top of that the whole work sports a really decent audio.
