F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is the first product in the series to be released on the Gameboy Advance portable console. It is also a full conversion from SNES, another very popular Nintendo console. However, it should be mentioned here that the changes in relation to the original are significant. They included both the range of available gameplay modes, as well as the creation of graphics, which seems to be more detailed. The preparation of this game is of course the responsibility of Nintendo.
As in other games in this series, we sit at the controls of a futuristic looking and moving at high speeds hovercraft. F-Zero in many ways seems to be reminiscent of the subsequent editions of the famous Wipeout. One of the main factors distinguishing this product from the competition are crazy, very twisted routes. They require a perfect understanding of all corners and a flawless driving through them. A total of ten hovercrafts have been put at our disposal. Four machines are available from the start, but the other six have to be unlocked. Hovercrafts differ not only in appearance, but also in particular parameters, describing, among other things, the strength of their armour, or the maximum speed at which they can move. The player can also use the turbocharging option. It appears each time the lap is completed. Also beware of the hovercraft's energy strap. Energy is lost by hitting gangs or other machines. Fortunately, it can be regenerated.
The manufacturer has taken care of four different modes of play, including full-fledged championships, in which we are promoted to the next level, starting the increasingly difficult races. In practice mode, the player can take care of getting to know specific tracks. Depending on the choice made, it moves alone or with the participation of a computer driver. The other two modes are reserved for multiplayer fans. This game allows up to four people to have fun. Visually Maximum Velocity looks much better than the original SNES console. The improvements included mainly the appearance of hovercraft, which are now better animated.
