The F-18 Super Hornet is a rather unusual product. We are dealing with a full-fledged flight simulator, which may seem a bit strange, given that the game was released on a portable and very limited hardware console from Nintendo. In many ways this product resembles games such as F-14 Tomcat or F-24: Stealth Fighter. According to what the title of the game may suggest, we have the opportunity to sit at the helm of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter. This machine officially entered service in 1999. It is therefore a relatively new construction, but based on its predecessors. Just like in the case of the game F-14 Tomcat, we observe the action from the perspective of the first person. This means that similarly to classic PeCet flight simulators, we are inside the cabin. We can also admire quite realistic indicators, showing, among other things, the current altitude or speed of the flight. However, the F-18 Super Hornet is not a race simulator, although the game is much more difficult than typical arcade shooters. The F-18 Super Hornet was created exclusively with the needs of a single player in mind. So there are no multiplayer modes.
Of course, we have a dozen or so missions to complete, played on enemy territory. Before starting any task, we can familiarize ourselves with the guidelines and adjust the weaponry. We can choose between different cannons and missiles. Offensive tasks prevail. This means that we eliminate other fighter planes and ground targets. Controlling the title fighter is quite complex. We can not only control the speed of movement, but also change the bearing to the currently marked destinations, or use a detailed map of the area. The player must also learn how to do things like landing correctly.
